Any Suitable PSLE Science Assessment or Guide Books to buy from Popular?

Don't buy anymore random PSLE Science assessment books for your child anymore!

As primary science exam is drawing closer, many parents are asking what some suitable assessment books to buy from popular for additional practice for?

With so many assessment books to choose from, it is no doubt why parents find it so tough to make decisions and oftentimes, they just buy something that 'looks good' but parents have no idea how to judge whether or not the question type in the assessment book is even relevant.

As such, poor students end up doing and doing many work but don't see great results.

So this post is to help you choose the right books and don't waste more money and time.

1. Science Assessment Book By Topics

This is a great book that is very similar to exam paper questions and it is topical!

There is a wide coverage on the question types for each topic.

A lot of parents thought this book is for teachers to use. But it is not true. It is called teacher's tips because under each question, there are some teacher's tips. See sample below:

These tips are great for understanding but do note that they are NOT KEYWORDS.

2. Science Assessment Book for Concepts

This is a book that compiled the common misconceptions for primary school students by topics.

It is a very interesting book because there are comic drawings within the books.

Using this book can strengthen your child's concepts and especially helpful when come to selecting tricky options in MCQ.

However this book is not meant for full revision for section B answering skills.

3. Science Assessment Book for Experimental Questions

This book is so fun! Your child could follow the instructions inside the book and answer relevant experimental questions within the book! The experimental questions in the book is also based on commonly tested exam paper questions.

There are 7 types of experimental questions (about 10marks) which has standard answering templates.

By repeating the answering technique for the various questions in the book, your child will be a master of these 7 type of experimental questions.

I have also compiled a book below based on 2012-2020 Selected PSLE Questions for my PSLE students!

4. Science Guide Book

By far, the orange books are the best guide books which highlights all the required content needed for PSLE Science!

Books are great! The only problem is that it needs to complement with motivated students in order to benefit the most from the content written in the books. Ultimately, there is no engagement from doing books and needs the INTRINSIC MOTIVATION of your child to get it done. Out of 10 students, 2 will probably really use these books to the best.

HOPE THAT THE POST IS HELPFUL TO PARENTS AND DON'T WASTE MONEY AND TIME USING THE WRONG BOOKS AGAIN :)

Assessment books or past year papers?

Actually, I am an advocate of letting your child practise past year exam papers which you do not need to buy.

Why?

As a strategist who spots trends and patterns, you can observe that the type of questions that comes out during exams is usually the same. Even if the questions look different, the answering template is still the same. That means, going through past year paper will be more efficient!

You can download free exam papers from here: https://testpapersfree.com

Pitfalls: The paper is a general practice that does not target on a particular topic for upcoming weighted assessments. Some answer keys might be wrong as well. The open-ended answers does not give any gauge on how to allocate the marks for your child's answers.

General guide: 2 marks require 4 keypoints, 1 mark require 2 keypoints for explanation questions.

GREETINGS EVERYONE!!!!!

It's been a long time since I updated this blog! Other than working with my beloved students, I was quite caught up with Covid-19, going online, working with the team of passionate coaches to make learning fun even if we are online.

Hence, I have launched the psle science vlog youtube channel!

Here's the link to the vlog: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WdiFuafLbIQ&t=82s

In ISUN classes, students are empowered to create their own cheat sheets with us to cover all the types of questions and keywords to answer the different types of question!

Motivation? The classes are designed to be fun and engaging so the students will benefit the most from the class. See our students testimonials here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?vanity=IsunEducation&set=a.643722659069523

Answers to PSLE Questions

Why do I write suggested solutions to Red Swastika 2018 SA1 Paper? - My students found it useful and requested for more!  - The parents who used it to help their child have found it useful!  That's why despite using 4 hours just to write ONE SET of the suggested solutions (Section B only) and doing the miscellaneous admin such as scanning, downloading documents, writing email to send out to our ISUN warriors, I do it.  Hope that all these will contribute to their learning :)  From the paper, there are quite a couple of questions from the PSLE Booklet: You can download the Red Swastika 2018 Paper here!  Red Swastika 2018 Q 30 Reproduction of Plants PSLE 2018 Q15 TEST IT OUT!  PSLE 2018 Q15 ANSWER  Red Swastika 2018 Q33 Adaptations PSLE 2013/ Specimen Paper Adaptions TEST IT OUT!  PSLE 2013/ Specimen Paper Adaptions ANSWERS Refer to other posts to learn more! Respiration and Photosynthesis

Respiration and Photosynthesis With air quality going downhill, there may be chances that we need to carry plants around as our oxygen tank.  The working mechanism is based on 2 simple concepts of Primary 5 Science, Respiration and Photosynthesis.  As seen from the picture, the man is wearing a mask connected to the plant. As the man respires, it gives out carbon dioxide.  The carbon dioxide, together with water and light, the green plant with cholorphyll photosynthesises and produces oxygen for the man to respire and survive.   A summary of the both respiration and photosynthesis processes are below: Respiration Respiration is the breaking down of digested food with oxygen to produce energy. The equation of Respiration Sugar (from digested food) +  Oxygen (from inhaled air)   รจ  ENERGY (for body to use) +  Carbon Dioxide (to exhaled air) + Water Vapour (to exhaled air)  *NOTE* All living things respire including plants. Respiration takes place ALL the

3 Common Mistakes in P6 Forces

3 COMMON MISTAKES IN FORCES:  *Apologies that the alignment of this page is off & I can't seem to get it adjusted for now. If you want a downloadable worksheet, PM us at isuninfo@gmail.com *  1. Gravitational force (GF) vs Gravitational Potential Energy (GPE) Example 1 The ISUN warriors were playing at the corridor with a wooden ball. Xavier accidentally threw a ball and it travelled in the path as shown below rolling to a stop.   Which one of the following statements is correct? 1)       Gravity acted on the ball only when it travelled from Q to R. 2)       There are no other forces acting on the ball from P to Q except gravity. 3)       The amount gravity acting on the ball when it travelled from P to R is the same. 4)       The amount of gravity acting on the ball increased when the ball travelled from P to Q and decreased when it dropped from Q to R. Common Answer: 4 Why is it wrong? Students often confuse
