Respiration and Photosynthesis

Respiration and Photosynthesis With air quality going downhill, there may be chances that we need to carry plants around as our oxygen tank.  The working mechanism is based on 2 simple concepts of Primary 5 Science, Respiration and Photosynthesis.  As seen from the picture, the man is wearing a mask connected to the plant. As the man respires, it gives out carbon dioxide.  The carbon dioxide, together with water and light, the green plant with cholorphyll photosynthesises and produces oxygen for the man to respire and survive.   A summary of the both respiration and photosynthesis processes are below: Respiration Respiration is the breaking down of digested food with oxygen to produce energy. Water Cycle: Formation of Cloud @ Cradle Mountain Common Primary 5 Science Question Lee Xian sets up an experiment as shown below. She  heated some stones to 150°C and placed them in the  glass bottle as shown in the set up below. After several minutes, she observed water droplets formed on the inside surface of the glass bottle. (a) Explain how are water droplets formed.  (2m) The tap water gains heat from the stones and evaporates to become warmer water vapour which loses heat and condenses onto cooler inner surface of the bottle, forming water droplets. (b) What would Lee Xian observe if she changed the hot stones to ice cubes ? Explain why.  (2m) She would still observe water droplets but at the outer surface of the bottle. The warmer water vapour in the air lost heat and condensed onto cooler outer surface of the bottle, forming water droplets.

The Blood Family

The blood is generally make up of 4 components 1. Red Blood Cells Red Blood Cells  transport oxygen  and  carbon dioxide . It is involved in  gaesous exchange  in the air sacs of lungs as well as in cells during  respiration . Red blood cell is a special animal cell that contains  NO NUCLEUS . Hence it cannot undergo cell division to replicate itself.  To ensure continuity of red blood cells , the body made them in the bone marrow.  Red blood cell is  bi-concave in shape . Together with its shape and without any nucleus, the red blood cell is able to have  higher contact surface area  with the gases and hence  transport  the  gases   more efficiently . 2. Platelets The main function of platelets is to  clot blood . By clotting blood, we will  stop blood flow  and preventing excessive blood loss. Features of Animal-Pollinated Flower

Topic: P5 Science (Reproduction of Flowering Plants with Modified 2013 PSLE Science Question)  For flowering plants, pollination and fertilisation need to take place in flowers before flower can bear into fruits. Pollination  is the  transfer  of  pollen grains  from  anther  of a flower to the  stigma  of the same flower or a different flower of the  same kind . Anther  is the  MALE  part of the flower that  produces and stores pollen grains. Stigma  is the  FEMALE  part of the flower that  receives pollen grains.  (stigma can be remembered as sticky mama :P) Pollination can be carried out with the help of  wind  or  animals  including  insects  or  birds .
